Nothing screams fashion as ardently as Bollywood in India. Since time immemorial, movie stars, with the help of fashion designers and later fashion stylists, made trends a buzzword across the country.
Globalisation and the export of Western pop culture changed the way Indians perceived fashion. What was once highly exclusive and out of reach for most became readily available for the burgeoning middle class. Everyone is putting their currency into fashion trends to look chic and elegant, from high street fashion to wedding glam looks.
The year 2022 saw the Bollywood celebrities going all out with fashion trends after a couple of arrested years of the ongoing pandemic. Ranveer Singh shocked the nation in his nude avatar spread across magazine papers, and Deepika Padukone flaunted our Indian heritage in her looks at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.
The looks mentioned above might be impractical for us— the non-Bollywood, mere humans. However, many celebrities have displayed envious and exceptional fashion trends for us to follow.
THE SEQUIN SCENES
Not for the faint-hearted, sequin dresses—both traditional and western outfits have made a triumphant comeback into the fashion lexicon. Right from the elite fashion ramps to the red carpet appearances— they are grabbing eyeballs everywhere, with Bollywood stars brightening the tinsel town in sequin-filled fashion madness.
Be it Janhvi Kapoor gracing the comfy couch of Koffee with Karan in her thigh-high slit sequin dress or Kiara Advani in her dazzling blue jumpsuit sequin avatar— sequin is making heads turns with fashion gworls endorsing it with full enthusiasm.
ATHLEISURE AT AIRPORTS AND GYMS

What happens when the perfect worlds of athletic and lounge wear are brought together— it creates the magic termed Athleisure. A product born out of the need to look decent when working from home for us commoners, athleisure is a hit with celebrities coming out of their gym sesh or heading to the airport for work or private trips.
Bralettes, camisoles, tights and shorts in different fits, patterns and colours are all-time favourite fashion trends with Bollywood celebrities. Be it Tiger Shroff, Malaika Arora or Sara Ali Khan— all seem to have been bit by the athleisure bug. This fashion trend seems to be staying for a long while here.
GO TWINNING
Everyone in Bollywood is going twinning, from Kareena Kapoor Khan to Karaj Johar to Ritesh Deskhmukh. This is the latest thing going in Bollywood, from twinning in blazers, jackets, tees, shorts we have seen it all. Twinning is fun and these stars make it fabulous !!! You can check out twinning t shirts for couples and family at Hangout Hub.
GO GRAPHIC
Diljit Dosanjh, Karan Johar, Aditya Roy Kapur, Kareena Kapoor Khan and many more celebrities go gaga over graphic t-shirts for men and women. This casual style of dressing brings out their playful sides, making them look youthful and energetic.
The baby celebrities Aryan Khan and Taimur Ali Khan look super cute and stylish in their little graphic t-shirts. The influence can be seen on the streets with parents styling their children in trendy wear. Want to make a point or just look uber cool? Buy that witty graphic t-shirt and make a bold statement!
POP HUES
No, we haven’t forgotten our debonair male celebrities! Bollywood isn’t only about drool-worthy divas. It’s also about our dapper dudes. Men in the Indian fashion industry have started giving newer meanings to men’s fashion, with stars like Ranveer Singh, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vijay Deverakonda and more making public apprentices in pop-coloured suits.
Reversing the “Why should boys have all the fun?”, the Bollywood boys (call them men if you want) are all about gender fluidity and breaking stereotypes. Kudos to such refreshing looks and the inclusion of fashion diversity!
THE WHITE FEVER
It all started with Alia Bhatt promoting her iconic movie, Gangubai Kathiawadi. Taking from her fierce character’s all-white look with pops of colour, Alia was photographed in all-white looks during her promotional activities.
The fans soon got enamoured by her stylised outfits and recreated her looks on social media. White as a new colour is a wardrobe staple of all celebrities, with it being a summer favourite in all daytime events and functions. White as a trend always scores high in the slay meters.
PASTELS PIZZAZZ
What’s good for the eyes has to be good for the soul, too, right? Keeping this philosophy in mind, Bollywood celebrities are trending in pastels.
Pantsuits, mini skirts, crop top-wear and bodycon dresses— all have excitedly accepted the season of pastels. When you feel like looking fresh or breezy, get your hands on these pastel shades, preferably in the fabrics of linen or mulmul. Compliments would be the norm in your pastel looks.
IS IVORY THE NEW RED?
The fashion trends list is incomplete without the mention of big fat Bollywood weddings. Wait, haven’t celebrities gone all quiet about their private affairs with guest lists getting shorter and bridal wear trading bling-bling for soft glam?
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot this year in a hush-hush affair. The glowing bride looked divine in her ivory minimalist organza Sabyasachi saree.
Paving the way for minimalist brides who prefer elegance to exuberance, Alia declared Ivory to be the new Red. We still love our 50 or more shades of red in bridal wear, but this was an absolute knockout! You can always check out our other blog 8 signs you need any help with you fashion.
